Tens of thousands of devastated residents are working to recover from the deadly floods that hit southeastern Louisiana. As of August 22, 60,700 homes were reported damaged or destroyed in the state, and 102,000 people have registered for federal assistance. Many independent agencies and their staff were among those affected by the unprecedented floods.
IIAT encourages members to contribute to the Trusted Choice Disaster Relief Fund to help agents recovering from the floods. The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of Louisiana is offering financial assistance to its member agencies and their staff through the fund.
In the past several years, the Trusted Choice Disaster Relief Fund has awarded more than $75,000 to Big “I” members to assist them and their families with the tedious process of getting their lives, homes and businesses reestablished after a fire, flood, tornado, or other natural disasters.
The Trusted Choice Disaster Relief Fund makes cash grants to Big “I” members, their agency staffs and others in the independent insurance industry, to pay for immediate or ongoing financial needs when other funding sources such as insurance and other grants are not available. It is also used to fill a gap until other funding sources can be accessed, as well as to provide insurance agents with supplies and resources to aid victims and surviving family members in their communities.
