How do people find your business these days? They Google it. Is your business information on Google Maps? Is it correct? If it’s not, that’s an unnecessary barrier for customers. Providing details like phone numbers, business hours and photos to Google Maps and others is too often overlooked and is important to providing customers and potential customers with a path to your door. The additional links can also help with your websites search engine optimization (SEO).
Google Maps is run through a portal called Google My Business. You can use the dashboard at Google My Business to keep your information updated, upload pictures and track those finding your business with views, clicks, and followers. You can also keep on top of customer reviews of your business on Google.
If you are signed into your Google account, you can also find your business on the map and click edit.
Bing Places for Business
To make sure your business information is correct on Bing, go to http://www.bingplaces.com. You can search by phone number or business name.
You can use your Apple ID to log into Apple Maps and add or change your business information. You can start here. If you don’t have an Apple ID, click on Create One.
Waze is a community-based navigation app. Waze accepts paid advertising. You can add your business to Waze through the Map Editor. This is somewhat complicated and you have to actually drive with Waze to be able to edit maps. However, if you download the Waze app onto your smart phone, there is an option to upload a photo of your business to help other users find it. You can read more about the Waze map editor here.

Yelp is not specifically a map program, but still a good place to list your business. Simply go to this link, claim your business and edit business information. https://biz.yelp.com/ You will also be able to respond to reviews and measure activity to your Yelp business page. Yelp also has advertising options including a Get Quote call to action button.
Most maps will only list businesses with a physical location. You will also more than likely need an email address with a domain specific to your business to verify the account. Addresses like @gmail.com, @yahoo.com etc. won’t work. As an alternative, in most cases, you will be able to have a postcard containing a verification code mailed to your physical address, but that takes more time and effort than an instant email verification. Don’t forget to save your login names and passwords for making future updates!
