#ProjectAttract at IIAT’s Annual Conference Explores Ways to Attract New Talent to Insurance

It’s no secret that most college students simply aren’t aware of insurance careers. Only 2% of millennials consider themselves “very familiar” with the insurance industry—and fewer than 10% say they’re interested in joining the profession, according to research from the Griffith Insurance Education Foundation.

A recent Independent Agent magazine article titled “5 Steps for Recruiting College Grads to Your Agency” explored proactive methods for attracting new talent. “Insurance employers can’t simply post entry-level job openings online and wait for the applications to roll in—especially if they’re trying to attract the best and the brightest. You need to be proactive if you want to compete with industries that young people are more familiar with,” wrote IA’s Elizabeth Walsh.

Agents will have a unique opportunity to explore how to attract new talent to the insurance industry during #ProjectAttract at IIAT’s Annual Conference, June 15-17 in Fort Worth. Hosted by ELITExas.

#ProjectAttract is an interactive and engaging team activity where young insurance professionals will collaborate with young professionals from outside of the industry, students and recruiting specialists, in a competition to “sell”’ the insurance industry to potential insurance industry job seekers. Each team will develop a public relations campaign their agency can use to attract and recruit new talent. The team with the best presentation and campaign strategy will win a prize and get national recognition.

In addition to #ProjectAttract, the annual conference features an array of special events and networking opportunities just for young professionals. View the ELITExas conference schedule.
