Mark Ray to Serve as IIAT Chair: New Board Members and Officers Announced

New board members and officers were introduced during IIAT’s annual business meeting in Grapevine on June 21. Mark Ray, of Borden Insurance Agency in Corpus Christi, was elected as IIAT chair for 2019-2020. Robert Nitsche of The Nitsche Group in Giddings, will serve as chair-elect; and Gaylon Brown of TexCap Insurance in Dallas, will serve as vice-chair.

Elected to the board of directors were Tommy Dies with Bryan Insurance Agency in Graham; Bert Miller with The Miller Agency in Navasota; Tyler Spears with BKCW in Killeen and Austin; Kyle Stripling with Galloway Insurance Agency in Burnet; and Matt Womack with Watkins Insurance Group in Austin.

Meet Your New IIAT Chair, Mark Ray

Mark W. Ray is vice president of Borden Insurance Agency in Corpus Christi.  A native Mark Ray_use thisTexan and resident of Corpus Christi since 1972, he graduated from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) in San Marcos.

His insurance experience spans over 30 years. Mark started his career as a commercial insurance agent with Swantner and Gordon Insurance Agency before joining Borden Insurance 14 years ago. He specializes in oil and gas, lawyers’ professional liability and other commercial property and casualty coverage. He has served as president of the Independent Insurance Agents of the Coastal Bend, chairman of the IIAT Windstorm Task Force, and as the regional vice president for IMPACT.

Mark is an active community volunteer. He serves as chairman of the board of the Coastal Conservation Association of Texas, chairman of the board of the Center for Sportfish Science and Conservation at Texas A&M Harte Research Center. He also serves as Trustee of the Texas Foundation for Conservation. In 2018 Mark was named the Harvey Weil Sportsman Conservationist of the year. Mark is also active in the Coastal Bend Bays Foundation, the Port Aransas Rod and Reel Club, the Coastal Bend Emmaus Community and Corpus Christi First United Methodist Church. Mark and his wife Robin reside in Corpus Christi.
